Unlike the standard 45 minute therapy hour paid for by insurance companies, we may need longer sessions in order for us to do the best work possible together, especially if we are doing EMDR. Fees are as follows:
50 minute session $130
60-90 minute session $150-$175
Group therapy $45 - $60
Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Even though I do not accept insurance you can still file for out of network benefits with me. You will pay me and then I provide a receipt for you to file with your insurer. Then your insurer reimburses you for the out of network rate, if you have out of network benefits.
Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
- Do I have out of network mental health benefits?
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
- How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician?
There are several advantages to paying out of pocket for your therapy that we can address at your first session. One thing to keep in mind is that if you choose to file for insurance, we will need to provide a diagnosis code that is filed with the Medical Information Bureau. It will remain on file as part of your medical records for the rest of your life. If you apply for any type of medical, health or life insurance, the therapist you see may be contacted and asked to release all records. In some cases, a mental health diagnosis may cause a denial of benefits or a higher premium. If you choose not to file, you are assured of absolute confidentiality, since I am not sharing your personal information with any third party.
I have two reduced fee slots available in my practice; these are on a time-limited basis for those who can demonstrate financial hardship. Please feel free to ask me about this when we talk.
Cash, checks and credit cards (all except Amex) are accepted for payment.
